The study investigates how individual and community factors influence the concurrence of alcohol use and sexual behavior, as well as HIV infection and disease progression among the CPOL cohort. It examines how alcohol use is influenced by individual (demographic, social, economic, psychological factors regarding alcohol use) and community (economic conditions, social and health resources, alcohol availability) characteristics. It examines how concurrence of alcohol use, sexual behavior and condom use is influenced by typical alcohol use, psychological factors regarding the use of alcohol before sexual behavior influences, and risk of HIV infection.
